
Transport Manager, Stowmarket VACANCY FILLED
I am recruiting a Transport Manager in Stowmarket, a full time role, £42,000 per annum, 25 days holiday plus pension.
This established business is looking to recruit an experienced Transport Manager to run their internal fleet of vehicles. Reporting directly into the Site Operations Manager you will be fully responsible for managing the transport department.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the management of the in-house fleet (approximately 16 vehicles) through line management of the team of drivers, ensuring logistics are well planned and managed
- Ensuring all aspects of the Operator License are compliant to current EU Regulations
- Keeping the drivers’ hours and records, ensuring all driving and Working Time Directive reference periods are legal
- Ensuring drivers 5 yearly CPC training is up to date
- Managing Drivers holiday requests to ensure no disruption to business continuity, in conjunction with the Transport Planner
- Ensuring all vehicles are kept in a fit and serviceable condition as regards periodic maintenance, MOT, LOLER, Tacho recalibration, in conjunction with the relevant repairer
- To keep within the number of vehicles and trailers that are authorised on the Operator license
- Ensuring the company has sufficient funds to keep the vehicles on the fleet in a fit and serviceable condition
- Providing drivers with infringement reports to advise them of breaches of driver hours or WTD
- Notifying commercial team of relevant issues such as possible loss of customer or possibility to increase/gain services
- Contributing to the strategic planning of fleet replacement
- Increasing customer service levels
- Defining and increasing department standards
Requirements include:
- The ideal candidate will have proven knowledge of running a transport department and you will be able to demonstrate a track record in successfully managing teams in a busy facility. You will have the ability to plan and manage timetables to ensure all requirements of the job are met and knowledge of driver hours and ideally working time directive.
- You will also be able to demonstrate good computer literacy skills and be resilient with the ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to identifying and raising areas for improvements in efficiencies.

The role offers a salary of up to £45k + benefits. The role is Monday- Friday working.
