HR Manager, Cambridge

I am recruiting a HR Manager in Cambridge, a full time role, £55,000 per annum.

My client is looking to recruit an HR Manager for this newly created role. They require an exceptional HR Generalist to take ownership of the function including managing all areas of operational HR and supporting the organisation with achieving their objectives.

You will need to be an enthusiastic team player who is well presented, articulate, and has excellent written and non-verbal communication skills. Academic qualifications are of interest, however experience, especially from working in a stand-alone HR role will be more important.

You must enjoy working as an integral member of the team, but also be capable of managing your own workload to deliver high quality work to targets and tight deadlines. They operate a relaxed, fun, and sociable work environment, but remain resolutely focused on delivering the highest possible standards of customer service.

Responsibilities include: –

Administration, HR System & Records Management and Development

  • Responsible for all HR Administration
  • Maintain personnel employment records in accordance with retention policy and data protection requirements.
  • Develop HR systems to meet efficiency and line management business requirements.
  • Provide HR management reports as required.

Compliance

  • Keep up to date with current UK Employment Law
  • Ensure that all mandatory and best practice training (for example on diversity, inclusion, workplace bullying etc.) is applied and updated.
  • Responsible for HR related compliance, with recourse to internal and external legal and other specialist advisory support where required.
  • Liaise with Group HR to discuss and, where appropriate, implement Group policies.

Disciplinary & Policy

  • Monitor and promote adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor employee sickness rates and assist line managers when action is required.
  • Handle conflict resolution and disciplinary actions
  • Handle termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Performance and Capability Management

  • Provide support, guidance and coaching to line managers in managing and handling performance and capability issues.
  • Appraisal:

o Develop and implement the appraisal process.

o Assist line managers, including taking part in staff appraisals where appropriate.

o Facilitate training requirements arising from appraisals.

Training & Development

  • Provide mentoring, training, and support to line managers to develop their management capability.
  • Manage training and development requests in line with business requirements, personal development needs and budget.

Remuneration and benefits

  • Responsible for managing and administering the company’s employee benefit provisions.
  • Manage the annual salary and bonus review processes.
  • Make proposals for new or revised benefit plans as necessary.
  • Manage the renewals for the Private Health Insurance in conjunction with external benefits advisors and Finance team if applicable.
  • Ensure in conjunction with the finance payroll accountant that the payroll is managed and administered in a timely and accurate fashion.

HR Policies, Procedures and Employee Handbook

  • Ensure that the Employee Handbook, HR policies and procedures comply with legal requirements and good practice whilst being aligned to the company’s strategy and business objectives.
  • Provide training, guidance and support to Line Managers and staff regarding application of policies and procedures.

Recruitment, Selection and On-boarding

  • Provide guidance and assistance in the development and execution of appropriate recruitment and selection campaigns within time and cost constraints.
  • Responsible for developing a suite of employment documentation which is compliant and communicates the company’s offer and terms to prospective employees.
  • Manage the pre-employment relationship (to include screening, references etc).
  • Develop an induction programme to help ensure that newly hired employees are integrated into the company and aware of their role responsibilities as quickly as possible.

Skills & Experience

· A degree or relevant HR qualification – ideally CIPD Level 5, or working towards Level 5

  • Previous experience as an HR Advisor, Manager, Consultant, or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of HR legislation and procedures
  • Experience in coaching and supporting managers to build their capabilities.
  • A passion for people and a desire to promote good mental health practices, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Good business acumen – able to apply pragmatic commercial solutions to HR problems.
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business.

This will be an exciting role for someone to really shape and create as their own in a well-established business that has big growth plans. The role can allow a certain amount of working from home , but it is expected that 80% of time will be spent in the office. The office is located in close walking distance to Cambridge train station or there is also parking on site. The client would also consider someone to work on a 4-day week basis too.

The role will offer a base salary of up to £55k + bonus + 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays) + 6% pension + healthcare.
