Purchasing Manager

My client who is a leading food manufacturer in their field is looking to recruit a new Purchasing Manager. A full time role, £45,000 per annum in Norfolk.

In conjunction with several key stakeholders, you will be responsible for delivering high quality and cost-efficient purchasing processes for production and operations. This is a pivotal role in the overall success of the business and reports directly to the Procurement Director. Your key responsibilities will include: –

Role responsibilities:

  • Management and procurement of raw material, packaging, and related products; and ensuring best products, with the right quality, at the best price.
  • Lead and coach a team of two buyers and support them in the control, management and administration of shipping, container documents, clearance, customs, duty, letter of credits and supplier payments terms.
  • Indirect spend out of the business – I.e., PPE, cleaning chemicals
  • Establish, and continually develop systems, processes, and supplier relationships to ensure the most cost-effective approach to buying and material planning is achieved Maintaining the UK and international supplier portfolio
  • Controlling and improving the Company’s purchasing and stock control system for stock holding optimisation and reducing waste.
  • Working within the purchase budget and forecast systems and controlling stock JIT, S&OP and key supplier consignment holding plans.
  • Ensure close communication exists between commercial and technical departments on all matters relating to supply, food safety and quality.
  • Assessing and approving existing and new supplier sites and maintaining all associated raw materials and packaging quality.
  • Managing the stock control, packing schedule and packaging continuity of external packing facilities to ensure continuous supply and maintain product that fully complies with customer specification and requirements
  • Working closely with Finance, operations and Planning in the refinement and development of the MRP within the ERP system.
  • Working closely with the NPD team and sourcing products that fit the brief and the Company’s core strategy for growth, coordinating between departments and ensuring effective communication at all levels within the Company.
  • Supporting the Commercial team in traded sales and European sales where personal contacts exist.
  • Responsible within the team for the Company and its products to comply with all legal requirements set from time to time.
  • Reporting on agreed key deliverables and KPIs

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in purchasing, preferably within a FMCG environment.

You will be able to demonstrate strong business and technical skills across all areas for supply and a good working knowledge of ERP systems.

In addition, you will have a proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and exceptional attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

The role offers a salary of £45k + car allowance + 25 days holiday + pension + healthcare.
